Public Parks
A non-libertarian turns to a libertarian and says, “Your perspective on government is nutty; you would allow heroin vending machines in public parks!”
The libertarian responds: “Absolutely not; we would never stand for public parks.”
I thought of this recently when the Mellon Foundation pledged half a billion dollars for “inclusive and equitable” monuments in public parks. One can only imagine the endless debates about what constitutes “inclusive and equitable.”
If there are no public parks, however, there are no debates about which monuments to put there. Another point for Libertarian Land.
