Hi Constantin. Full Disclosure: Vivek was a student of mine many years ago! With that background, I would describe him similarly to Milei: definitely a number of libertarian positions, but some exceptions, and his admiration for Trump gives me serious pause.
Greetings; thanks for the comment. I have now read Daniel's post. I can accept that Milei is a far cry from Bolsonaro and indeed has significant libertarian instincts. Yet I remain cautious because a few of his statements seem so utterly NOT libertarian. Consider, as example, the comment on homosexuality that Daniel quotes: “I won’t fight against it nor discriminate, but if I see two men kissing on the street, I’ll beat them up.” What? Really? No libertarian, or any decent person, should ever consider beating people up except in clear self-defense. More broadly, my consider is that Milei ambition and populist leanings will lead him away from libertarian principles.
On the topic of Trump, would you be interested in a project (be it an article, book, etc.) where you rank the US presidents from most to least libertarian? Ivan Eland’s Recarving Rushmore is the only other such attempt I’m aware of, but it only goes up to Obama & makes more compromises with libertarian principles than I’d like (e.g. supporting the Civil Rights Act despite the problems you & others have pointed out).
darn, my bad! Many thanks for the correction. So I modify my prior comment, but I still remain cautious about my enthusiasm for Milei.
Hi Adam. that would be an entertaining project. I'll take a look at Recarving Rushmore and see if I had something new to add! best, jeff

That quote’s from Bolsonaro, not Milei.
Jeffrey, have you read Raisbeck's article?
https://www.cato.org/commentary/dont-confuse-javier-milei-jair-bolsonaro?
Javier is strategically a Rothbardian populist, but he has libertarian bona fides.

Very interesting, thank you for sharing! I would also be curious to see where the jury stands on Vivek Ramaswamy.
